Lingual braces are one type of the fixed orthodontic treatment appliances available to patients needing orthodontics. They involve attaching the orthodontic brackets on the inner (lingual vs. buccal) sides of the teeth. The main advantage of lingual braces is their near invisibility compared to the standard braces, which are attached on the buccal (cheek) sides of the tooth. Lingual braces is more better compare to traditional braces. You already know about the traditional metal braces placed on the front of the teeth but lingual braces has placement on the back of the teeth. Lingual braces are virtually invisible, and that’s the main reason eligible patients choose them. This partly explains why they are more common among adults than children. One other advantage is if you play a wind instrument or a sport, lingual braces are easier to adapt to than traditional braces. Lingual braces were invented by Craven Kurz in 1976.
